About FACE

Turning creativity into a viable pathway.

Filmmaking, Acting and Content Creation Education (FACE) Initiative is a creative empowerment platform dedicated to discovering, nurturing and equipping young talents, especially women and underserved youths, with the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to participate meaningfully in the film, media and digital storytelling industries.

Our story

Closing the gap between potential and access.

FACE was established in response to the growing gap between raw creative potential and access to structured training, mentorship and professional pathways within Nigeria’s creative economy. While talent exists across communities, opportunities are often concentrated in major urban centers.

FACE decentralizes access by bringing hands on, industry relevant training directly to emerging creatives where they live, learn and create. Through immersive workshops, collaborative productions, mentorship and access to professional networks, FACE transforms creativity into a viable pathway for employment, entrepreneurship and cultural expression.

Our Mission

To empower women and youth through practical film and media education, mentorship and access to opportunities that enable them to build sustainable careers, tell authentic stories and contribute to an inclusive creative economy.

Our Vision

To become a leading platform for grassroots creative development in Africa, where talent is not limited by geography, gender or economic background, and where emerging storytellers are equipped to shape global narratives from local realities.

Our Values

Craft, community, courage and access. We put talent, not privilege, at the centre of everything we build, and we measure ourselves by the careers our participants go on to build.

Aims and objectives

Seven commitments that shape everything we do.

Talent Development

Identify and train emerging creatives in filmmaking, acting and digital content creation through practice based learning.

Gender Inclusion

Actively expand opportunities for women in technical, creative and leadership roles within the screen industries.

Economic Empowerment

Provide pathways to employment, entrepreneurship and independent creative practice through grants, mentorship and production support.

Access and Decentralization

Deliver high quality creative training beyond major cities, strengthening regional creative ecosystems.

Industry Readiness

Bridge the gap between learning and professional practice through collaborative productions and real world workflows.

Cultural Expression

Enable participants to tell authentic stories rooted in their communities, contributing to locally driven cultural narratives.

Sustainable Networks

Build long term relationships among creatives, institutions and industry stakeholders to support continued growth.

Our approach

Training through creation.

Participants do not only learn theory, they actively create films, performances and media projects under professional guidance. Skills are applied immediately, confidence is built through doing, and participants leave with tangible experience and portfolios.

  • Intensive hands on training
  • Mentorship from industry professionals
  • Collaborative production labs
  • Public showcases and screenings
  • Startup grants or equipment support for selected participants

By integrating artistic development with professional exposure, FACE creates a bridge between emerging talent and the wider creative industry.

Our impact

More than a programme. A movement.

Since its launch, FACE has demonstrated how structured creative engagement can address youth disengagement, unemployment and gender imbalance in the media sector. Participants have gone on to work with media organizations, develop independent content platforms and pursue further education in film and related disciplines, expanding both their personal opportunities and the broader creative landscape.

FACE Initiative is a growing movement to ensure that the next generation of storytellers has the tools, platforms and support needed to create, thrive and lead within Africa’s evolving creative industries.
